Jeff Chang brings both signature love songs and new surprises in his latest Mandarin album Escape. The singer's beautiful high vocals contrasted with newcomer Fei Yang's Beijing Opera-style singing create a whole new sound in A Mother's Worries, a touching song about love for one's mother. Composed by Luo Da You, poetic pop piece An Angel Cries offers another musical innovation by combining literature and ballad and featuring piano accompaniment from Mavis Fan. The most interesting collaboration of the album though just might be Bike of Wheels which sees the balladeer crossing over with outspoken rapper MC HotDog. Jeff also goes light and local for Hot Chick, a good-humored rock number with a retro tone. The singer returns to the ballads he's best known for in Best Days and A Long Journey composed by Chen Hsiao Hsia, Too Bad composed and produced by Kay Huang, and the poignant title number Escape.
