Kuala Lumpur: Taiwan's EMI was reported two days ago to have staff split. A total number of 10 business planning crew resigned and it has been heard that they will join former trustee General Manager Chen Ze Bin to work for Taiwan's Warner Music. Other than Jolin's English Book Special Edition release being postponed, will Nicholas Teo's last New Songs + Collection album at EMI be affected?
Nicholas: Focused on Concert Preparations.
On being inquired by Sin-Chew daily, Nicholas expressed, "It's only been yesterday when we received the news that a majority of Business Planning and Promotion staff members we have worked with has resigned. Although a new manager has followed up with the job, there's still no confirmed future arrangement. They require time to discuss about album release plans. What's important is the manpower. I have left things for my manager and the company to decide and only focus on concert preparations work. Just that this sudden change does affect previous planning. It's not convenient for me to disclose much at the moment. I can only try my best to accommodate."
Ever since Nicholas has been releasing albums in Taiwan, there has been collaboration changes at every company each time he did so. From his debut album at Virgin Music to the second at EMI Baidai, until "Prince" at Capitol where crew members left, this time is not an exception. Will this affect his mood? Nicholas replied without much choice, "There has to be a little. The reason being that I have mentioned before I like to work with those who know me well and I too am familiar with them. Many times it's not been easy to have build up a tacit understanding among us and then there comes changes. Of course, I know that separation with colleagues is a natural happening but you can't help feeling uncertain."
This year's Valentine's Day is most unforgettable!
Nicholas' manager, Lai Sook-Teng revealed saying that: "Plans for New Songs + Collection album release are still being discussed. However, due to the fact that the Concert Theme Song, 《新歌試唱》(Xin Ge Shi Chang) is needed to promote upcoming concert in Malaysia, the broadcast date (Next Monday) on MY FM will remain as it is. We will continue our discussion on matters pertaining to the next album release." Will you get worried about Nicholas' reaction on organisation changes? “When I told him about the case, he was indeed silent for a few seconds without giving any response because he just couldn't react immediately. Perhaps it was all too sudden or it could be he was slightly worried. Nevertheless, he knows that the concert on March 29th is extremely important to him. He will still handle it wholeheartedly and not to disappoint his fans.”
When questioned as to how Nicholas spent his Valentine's Day on Feb. 14th this year, he said, "We've already received such a big news so even without a celebration or spending it in special ways, it will still be pretty memorable!? Ha! I don't have a lover so I just ate dinner with my family."
