Jay Chou Thrills 20,000 at sold out show!

KUALA LUMPUR: Asia’s king of R&B Jay Chou (pic) played to a packed audience of more than 20,000 fans in the Malaysian leg of his world tour at Stadium Merdeka on Saturday night.

He delighted fans with more than 30 songs in a three-hour sold-out concert which featured multiple costume changes and spectacular pyrotechnics.

Chou, 29, sang several new songs from his recent album On the Run as well as from his latest movie, Kung Fu Dunk.

Fans were thrilled when he re-enacted a scene from his second movie, the Zhang Yimou-helmed Curse of the Golden Flowers (2006), all decked out in the costume he wore while playing the warrior prince.

He also played an assortment of instruments – guitar, drums, guzheng (Chinese zither) and a crystal piano specially flown in from Taiwan.

His equally-entertaining protege, Nan Quan Mama, was the guest artiste for the night.

Excited fans clamoured for more and Chou gladly obliged with a succession of crowd favourites during two rounds of encores.
